Our Patio - Full Release
Please read for the full update on our patio, which will be deconstructed for 6-7 weeks, as of April 17th, 2024.
 

The Main Patio at MLBC 

MLBC will be temporarily relocating our patio on Wednesday, April 17th as part of the City of Calgary Main Street Project which in the long term is going to make Marda Loop even more vibrant and community-oriented. Basically, the City will be making enhancements to the local infrastructure including improving sidewalks and curblines. This will be a major upgrade for us but we expect the current patio to be down for 6 to 8 weeks (it will be back mid to end of June). That’s the not-so-great news...


Back in March of 2020, COVID 19 forced us to close our doors to in-house dining (take out and deliveries only). Many businesses were negatively affected and some even closed their doors. During that time, we were allowed to see friends outside, in groups no larger than 6 and we all had to be 6 feet apart. What started out as just a few people enjoying a beer in our back parking lot soon blossomed into more than a few. . . we even adopted the acronym PLP (Parking Lot Pints). 

How will we pivot and rally once again? The great news is that we are bringing back PLPs! Starting next week on Thursday, April 18th (weather permitting), we will have a full patio set up in the back parking lot. Complete with bathrooms, handwash station, full food menu and hopefully lots of sunshine. We won’t be heated or covered so please dress warm and also check with us on social media or call the brewery to ensure the back patio is open. If it’s not raining and if it’s reasonably warm, we will be open! We will be running with this until we have our east patio back up and constructed.

A few basic FAQs:
Dogs allowed – yes!
Full menu offering including all food – yes!
Bathrooms – yes! Handwash – yes!
Tuesday trivia – yes!
Will you have a blast in the sunshine – heck, yes!
Will the taproom be open – yes! . . . and with regular hours!

The entrance to the dining room will change to the south lobby area (the same entrance that Natural Way clients use).

Currently, we have these hours of operation for the back patio:
Mondays / Tuesdays / Thursdays: PLP after 6:00 pm 
Wednesdays: PLP after 12:00 pm to regular closing
Fridays / Saturdays / Sundays: PLP after 1:00 pm all until our regular closing hours

These times could adjust slightly (opening earlier) but that’s going to be dependent on securing additional parking stalls for us and the other businesses in the building.


We need you now more than ever! Since we opened in 2018 and through all the ups and downs of building MLBC as a community hub, you have been there for us. We are eternally grateful. This isn’t just informing you of the latest mountain we are climbing. I’m also asking you to support us again through this tough time. Many businesses in Marda are hurting right now.  Some are just keeping the doors open and just trying to weather the storm in hopes of a sunnier future – we need you so that we can come back better than ever during this next (BIG) step. 

We know that parking is an issue in Marda Loop right now: We will be maintaining 10 parking stalls in the back parking lot. We also have 5 parking stalls in front of the Old ProSkate building and we’ve also secured 5 additional parking spots on the north side of the street on 36th Ave just east of the brewery. Please feel free to use those spots whenever you need to!

We know that congestion and detours are an issue right now in Marda Loop: I would strongly urge you to stay away from 33rd Avenue until the City has completed it. Try accessing the brewery by exiting Crowchild Trail from 50th Ave to the South and by 17th Avenue to the North. Both of those will give you access into the area. It might take a little longer but there won’t be the congestion and stress. (Please see upcoming social media posts with maps and route options!)

We are currently not on the Skip the Dishes.

Can kids/minors come there?
Yes! We are family-friendly . All kids/minors must be with an adult.

Is your patio and TEMP PATIO pet-friendly?
It most definitely is! We just ask that all four-legged friends be mindful of other patrons, and for their guardians to please bring water for them!

Is there water for dogs on your patio?
While we typically have water out, we sometimes don't have enough bowls, which is why we kindly ask to bring some just in case!

Is your patio heated?
Not only is our patio heated - it is fully covered, too!
Please note that this does NOT apply to our temporary patio that will be in place from April 2024 -June 2024!!

Do you sell gift cards?
We do. You can pick them up at the taproom!

Do you have gluten-free drink options?
We do. We have ciders, gluten-free beer, wine, along with alcohol-free and gluten-free options.

Do you have gluten-free food choices?
We do. You can refer to our menu to find out which menu items are gluten-free, along with vegetarian options.

Do you have dairy-free food choices?
We do. You can also chat with our friendly staff and we will see if we can accommodate any specific menu requests.

Do you have vegan/vegetarian food choices?
We do. You can also chat with our friendly staff and we will see if we can accommodate any specific menu requests.

Can I bring in my own food?
At this time, we kindly ask that you do not bring any outside food into our establishment, or on the patio.

What is the capacity of your indoor space?
We have space for 48 guests inside.

What is the capacity of your outdoor space?

For any groups 15+, please send us an email and we will see if we can accommodate your group!

Do you do private events?
We do. Please contact us and we can discuss your event!

Do you have TV’s? 
At this time, we utilize our TV's for displaying our menu. We do not televise any sports, etc.

Do you have beer to go?
We do. We have growlers, growler fills and our canned products available in the taproom!

Do you do growler fills? 
We do! Come on by the taproom!

Do you sell growlers?

Do you sell your pint glasses? How much are they?
We have a limited amount, and if you're lucky, you can get your hands on a few for $5 each!

Do you sell merchandise?
We do. While we work out the details of our new site, you can find our merch in-store, but you can still take a look at what we offer online!

Is there parking nearby?
Yes. We have ample street parking right in front of the taproom, along with a back parking lot located on the West end of the property.

Is your space wheelchair accessible?
It absolutely is. We have an entrance on the Southside of the building that is wheelchair accessible.


Do you offer brewery tours?
We currently do not schedule them, but we can coordinate private tours. Click here to reach out!

Do you sell other drinks besides beer?
Yes we do. We have ciders, gluten-free beers, wine, Grizzly Paw soda, San Pellegrino and non-alcoholic beers.

Do you have beer flights?
We do! Mix and match with some of your favourite brews!

Do you have wifi?
Yes, we have wifi.

Do you have home delivery service?
At this time, we have removed our home delivery service.

Where are you located?
We are located in the incredible community of Marda Loop at 3523 18th Street SW.

Do you have space for me to lock up my bicycle?
Yes. We have a bike rack right outside of the brewery.

What are your rotational beers?
They are always changing! Follow us on social media to see the latest beer offerings!

Do you sell kegs?
We offer kegs for most of our core beers. Please send us an email if you're interested in purchasing any and we can provide more details!

Do you have a changing table in the Women's washroom?
Yes we do.

Do you supply high chairs?
At this time, we do not.
